About Nora Elkanick

Do you ever feel pulled down by the weight of seemingly impossible days? Do you feel you have difficulty expressing yourself? I believe that there is no one-size-fits-all to therapy and that you are the expert in your own experience. My role as therapist is to follow your lead as we navigate your mental health journey. I take a person-centered and holistic approach based in an eclectic theoretical orientation – based on symbolic interactionist, narrative, and humanist theories.

I join Alpine Lakes Counseling Center as an intern during my second year in Arizona State University’s Master of Social Work program. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from Eastern Michigan University in 2018 and am a Board-Certified Music Therapist working in acute, inpatient mental health. I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, and seniors with a variety of diagnoses and have experience with incorporating Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapies. I look forward to furthering my counseling experience at Alpine Lakes and would be honored to be a part of your journey.
