Group therapy is a great supplement to Individual Therapy! Instead of spending the time during individual sessions learning these skills, you can better utilize that time to work on the personal stuff and apply the skills you’re learning in the group.
Group therapy is also great on its own! Not only do you learn skills to reduce symptoms of mental health issues and improve your life. You also have support and accountability each week to encourage practice and implementation.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is an evidence-based treatment approach that has proven results for reducing the number of mental health symptoms including anxiety, depression, disordered eating, and trauma responses.
In DBT four sets of skills are taught. Over the course of the twelve weeks, you will spend three weeks learning, practicing, and implementing each skill.
3 weeks for each topic:
- Interpersonal Effectiveness
- Emotional Regulation
- Distress Tolerance
This twelve-week course will give you the support to manage overwhelming emotions of anxiety, depression, or stress. You will not only complete this group feeling equipped to better regulate your mood throughout the day. You will have a lifelong connection to a mental wellness community available to support your ongoing needs.
