Trauma-Focused

Symptoms of trauma can get in the way of living life to the fullest. Trauma is a term we use that covers both “little t” trauma and “big t” trauma. At Alpine Lakes Counseling Center we assess by asking the question, “what happened to you?” –Not, “what’s wrong with you.” If you have been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, have a history of complex trauma or abuse, experienced recent trauma, or a recent serious accident you may be experiencing some of the following problems.

  • Irritability or Anger
  • Difficulty in relationships
  • Flashbacks
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Nightmares
  • Avoiding places or anything having to do with trauma or abuse.
  • Feeling disconnected from others
  • Other mental health symptoms such as depression or anxiety

At Alpine Lakes Counseling Center we use Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, mindfulness, and somatization techniques to help calm the nervous system in order to safely reprocess trauma stored in the mind and body. We provide a safe and non-judgmental space to support you in your healing and growth. We believe that everyone has the ability to recover from past experiences.

If you want to reclaim your life back and no longer be defined by your past, call today to schedule a 20 min. free phone consultation or your first counseling appointment.

EMDR is a highly research trauma-focused modality that has shown to significantly reduce symptoms of PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, and other psychological symptoms. Click here to learn more.
